RE: FAIR & SECURE IMMIGRATION REFORM

AFRICAN IMMIGRANTS PLEA

Dear Mr. President:

I wish you and your family a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Thank you for your interest in alleviating the plight of undocumented aliens in the United States.

Your announcement on January 7, 2004 brought hope, joy and sense of belonging to the hearts of all immigrants in the United States including myself. We glued to the television sets with great expectation and we were not disappointed.

Sir, your great proposal has a flaw. It lacks the pathway to green card and citizenship, contrary to an earlier proposal made by your fellow Republican, Senator John McCain.  We read with concern your resolve not to “reward” undocumented immigrants. Some of us have served this nation for over 15 years earning a penny for a dollar because of our predicaments. We have suffered enough punishments and paid our due to the United States. We have proven our love and commitments to the values of America by serving this nation tirelessly. Our intentions are clear. To earn a living and feed our families.

Mr. President, if you will not give us a pathway to citizenship, at least give us Section 245(i) of the Immigration & Nationality Act. This will provide some of us nexus to roadway to adjustment of status. We do not want to return to square one.

As you will recall, Section 245(i) was promised in your address shortly before 9/11 terror attack. Now that our borders are secured, PLEASE HELP US.

The present proposal is more favorable to the Mexicans because of their proximity to the United States. Those of us from other nations do not enjoy the peace, good leadership and governance, United States is providing in North America. PLEASE HELP US. Give us pathway to citizenship or at least make S. 245(i) available in perpetuity.

God bless you. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

 Sincerely yours,
